A Spectacular Ending to the 64th Macau Grand Prix
BBIN has once again become the global partner of Theodore Racing/Prema in 2017, and has supported the team in showing considerably impressive performance this season, including winning the FIA Formula 2 Driver’s Championship title and the FIA Formula 3 European Team Championship title. Theodore Racing/Prema has been eager to set a brand new record in the FIA Formula 3 World Cup in Macau this November. Hence, the team has fielded a star studded lineup comprising four high standard drivers, including Formula 3 European Championship runners-up Maximilian Günther and fourth-placed Ferrari Academy Driver Callum Ilott, Ferrari Ferrari Academy Driver Guanyu Zhou and son of seven-time Formula 1 champion Michael, Mick Schumacher to compete.
Prior to this Grand Prix event, BBIN and Theodore Racing/Prema organized a driver’s meet-up in a press conference at the Macau Roosevelt. The rare sight of four star drivers caught the eye of numerous well-known media outlets from Hong Kong, Macau and China. The drivers described their expectations of challenging the best street race in the world and expressed their gratitude to BBIN for their full support. It was a lively and exciting session on the day of the event, where interaction with the drivers further highlighted their passion for car racing.
During the four-day event, the four drivers showcased their individual driving skills and team spirit. In the qualifying race, Ilott came first while Günther took the third spot. Despite being the favorites for the title, receiving overwhelming media attention and attending numerous interviews, Günther encountered collisions which affected the condition of his car, in the main race. Günther continued to work hard and eventually ended the race at the fifth spot. Mick Schumacher, on the other hand, set the fastest lap in the main race. Although the team failed to reach the podium, BBIN expressed admiration and pride for the performance of the team and the drivers. Another attractive focal point in this race was the 8 eye-catching BBIN racing girls, who cheered for the drivers on the sidelines. These racing girls attracted huge media presence and crowd to have their photo shoot.
With the full support of BBIN, Theodore Racing/Prema has won the FIA Formula 2 Championship title and the FIA Formula 3 European Championship title, and has been maintaining its momentum of leading the FIA F2 team standings in 2017.
